Pork Skin Jelly Products With Soybean Dregs
Nowadays, we are facing the problem of protein deficiency. Protein is a basic substance of human body and has good effects on biological functions. We must intake enough proteins every day to keep our organs working properly. However, due to low efficiency of protein processing and imbalance of distribution of protein in some areas, some people may not have enough. Therefore, we must find a way to create high-protein foods to compensate for it. Pork skin is a good source of protein. In addition, after oil is extracted, many soybeans will be used as livestock feed. But soy is a good source of protein as well. If we can use it correctly, then we can save a lot of materials. For this problem, our porposition value is recycling potential high-protein material to make a new product, and increase the use rate of protein.
Our idea comes from a traditional Chinese dish -- Pork Skin Jelly. It is made from pork skin and contains a lot of protein. To do this, we're going to boil the skin of the pig in water to make it as sticky as jelly. Then we clean the dirty parts and cool them down to a solid or non-Newtonian Fluid. What we need to do is we need to mix the bean dregs together, and the bean dregs also contain a lot of protein. After several processing for flavors, shapes and palate, our product is done. This product can be provided to some places where food is scarce, and its convenience and high-protein nature can help a lot of people there. To analyze our solution, I'll explain it from both social and environmental aspect. For social aspect, there might be people who refuse to eat either pork or soybean for many reasons. For example, pork skin must be replaced of cow skin in Islamic region, although it's harder than pork skin to be boiled. Also, we still have to consider about cost. Apparently, our materials come from two sources and we have to transport these from different places, which brings the problem of optimizing the position of processing factory. In addition, like jelly product, people may be afraid of adverse ingradients and stiling causing by kids swallowing. However, there are still merits in our products. Because our materials are very easy to get, the price of our product will not be too high, which helps our product open the market. What's more, our aim is to help people in protein scarce region get more protein intake and our product can easily achieve this goal because of its nature. For enviromrntal, the problem might be energy comsuming. Because we are focusing on boiling and disinfecting pork skin, which will spend a lot of energy for heating and cause noise. Also, like jelly protein, our product may have similar packaging with jelly and its plastic packaging might be adverse to environment. On the other hand, we have 2 main merits for environment. First, our method is basically about phsical way instead of chemical way, which avoids pollution for enviroment. Second, our method definately increase use rate of protein because it not only reuse pork skin which might not be used for eating, but also transfer soil dregs from feed for livestock to food material, which reduces the process in food chain.
